Our design approach
Frank Lloyd Wright, Fallingwater, 1935-1939
Our approach to design is connected to the international stream of organic architecture, developed in different forms at the beginning of the 20th century by architects like Frank Lloyd Wright, Rudolf Steiner, Antoni Gaudi, Hugo Haering, Alvar Aalto, Hans Scharoun and others. According to this approach every building is seen as a living organism, structured according to its functions and naturally growing out of its contest (place, social environment, culture of the time). As in an organism, also in a building each part should reflect and express its specific function and should develop naturally from the whole and from the neighbouring elements, giving a feeling of continuity among the parts. Aim of organic architecture is to create buildings which convey a feeling of life and which reflect human individuality through different gestures and expressions according to the specific situation. In case of private houses, for example, the gesture and the character of the building can be developed out of the personality of the owner in order to create an environment responding to the deeper needs of the inhabitants, supporting their development and reflecting their individuality. In this sense organic design takes in account not only the physical needs of the users, but also and mainly the psychical and spiritual one, contributing to the inner development and to the well-being of each person. By doing this, organic architecture also actively supports physical and psychic health, as shown by studies and inquiries among the users. In order to achieve these goals the organic design method includes a deeper study of the needs and of the personality of the client, the investigation of the quality of the building place and the deepening of the consciousness about the needs and the perspectives of development of the human being in the present time. |
