The task was to re-design the exterior of an old kindergarten in connection with the improvement of the insulation of the walls. The director and the co-workers asked the architect to create a more lively and children-friendly atmosphere than in then case of a usual pre-fabricated concrete structure. A feeling of movement and of life has been achieved by changing the skyline of the building with the help of different heights of the parapets, which have been shaped in the form of waves moving along the facades. The colour design emphasizes the movement of the parapets and divides the elevations into three zones (basement in brown, middle in yellow, top in pink-red colour) breaking the monotony of the existing building. The colours have been chosen aiming to give a feeling of warmth and joy to the children.
